Initiative Overview

AAHA recently entered into an agreement with Habitat for Humanity International as part of the five-year Home Depot Partners in Sustainable Building grant to help affiliates through training and direct financial assistance.

With so many variables involved in construction there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to building a better house. Some improvements can be realized with just training and techniques, while greater improvements are possible with modified materials, practices and planning.

My purpose is to:

1. Provide technical assistance with

     a) energy-efficent building science and technology

     b) sustainable building and general construction

          practices and planning

2. Rate & certify houses with specialized equipment.

This initiative will support affiliates with :

Project Planning

     - review upcoming projects
        - lead training sessions for site leaders
        - one-on-one consultation with construction managers
        - line-by-line reviews of construction specifications

Site Review & Certification

     - mid-project thermal bypass checklist
        - duct pressurization test
        - blower door testing
        - final certification

With the calendar you can see if I am in the office, or scheduled out to an event. I may be near your affiliate or traveling near your affiliate and can schedule a visit to your office or work-site.
